19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
