Arsenal's Manager Acknowledges Future Stay Depends on Winning Silverware.

On the eve of his sixth anniversary at the helm, Mikel Arteta has stated plainly that his longevity in North London is inextricably linked to delivering trophies.

Reflecting on: Six Years in Charge

Arteta took over on the 20th of December in 2019 and managed to steer the team to an FA Cup triumph within months. But, that initial silverware stands as his lone top-tier trophy following the departure of Unai Emery.

“Absolutely,” Arteta responded in response to a query about staying beyond 2027. “Yet it's about today. And many things need to fall into place in the near future as well to warrant that continuation.”

Regardless of the injury crisis and the immense scrutiny, Arteta feels the club's “focus and dialogue” are completely changed from when he initially took over.

He pointed to the squad's displays as a sign they are nearing their goal. “You look at the performances, all the club records that were shattered... We still haven't been able to do that [win trophies]. But that indicates the level we are at.”

He finished by saying, “It represents a quality that the Premier League has not seen before in the past. And our aim is to achieve greater objectives. And if we do that, I think we are on the proper course to winning.”
